Customs foil bid to ‘smuggle in’ 6,200 whisky bottles after tip-off Police arrest Egyptian man in possession of drugs

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 18: A Kuwaiti youth was stabbed twice and severely wounded in the back and shoulder when a group of 7 youths engaged in fisticuffs at a petrol station along the Chalet Motorway.
Based on a distress call the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry received about the incident, a rescue team was dispatched to the scene, which helped the injured person to the Adan Hospital.
 Security sources said the other members of the feuding party fled the scene before police arrived. A case has since been registered to trail them.

Man, women held drunk:
A drunken Kuwaiti citizen with two female compatriots — also high on alcohol, was nabbed by police at a checkpoint in Salmiya area.
Sources said securitymen had asked the culprits to stop for checking when they detected erratic manner by which their car was moving. The officers discovered as they questioned the culprits that they were heavily intoxicated. All three people were taken to the concerned authority.

KD 8,600 financial crime: A Kuwaiti citizen was arrested at a security checkpoint in Sabahiya area when police discovered he was involved in a KD 8,600 financial offense. He was sent to the relevant authority.

Bid to smuggle liquor foiled: Vigilant customs officers at the Shuwaikh Port recently foiled an attempt by employees of an unidentified company to smuggle 6,200 bottles of Red Label whisky into country hidden among sanitary ware items, reports Al-Rai daily.
The daily added the consignment was imported from an unidentified Gulf state by an unidentified company and the bill of lading showed the container was carrying sanitary ware items.
Security sources say the customs officers at the Shuwaikh Port had received information from unidentified sources that a large shipment of alcohol was on its way from a Gulf country.
The sources also say the customs officers were given full details about the shipment and when the contained arrived at the port the officers found the bottles of liquor were neatly stacked hidden among sanitary ware items.
The daily added the company representative was taken into custody when he came at the port to receive the shipment. However, during interrogation he said he knew nothing about the contraband.
The company representative has been detained for further interrogations. The daily also said police are looking for the owner of the company.
Meanwhile, the Al-Dar daily said in addition to the bottles of whisky the consignment contained 240 bottles of vodka.
Meanwhile, the Hawalli police have arrested an unidentified person for selling locally-manufactured liquor, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The daily quoting security sources said the man was arrested in Hawalli. The same sources said a police patrol suspected a motorist while parking his vehicle on an open area and when the motorist saw the police car driving in his direction, he allegedly attempted to drive off.
Police stopped the man, searched his vehicle and seized 80 bottles of alcohol. The man and the contraband have been referred to the concerned authorities.

Egyptian held with drugs:
The Hawalli police have arrested an Egyptian man for possessing drugs and referred him to the concerned authorities, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The arrest came when an unidentified person visiting a restaurant saw the suspect in abnormal condition near the toilet. He also saw a number of needles near the toilet and he suspected something was wrong so he called the Operations Department of the Interior Ministry.
When police rushed to the spot they found the man was a drug addict. They searched him and found on his person a quantity of heroin.
The heroin and the suspect have been referred to the authorities.

Man run over deliberately: An unidentified citizen of a Gulf State has been admitted to the intensive care unit of the Farwaniya Hospital in critical condition after he was deliberately run over with a car several times by a citizen of another Gulf state in Sulaibiya, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to a report received by the Operations Department of the Ministry of the Interior the men were involved in a fight in Sulaibiya. They were insulting and beating each other and finally one of them got into his vehicle and ran over the victim several times before driving off.
The sources say when police and paramedics rushed to the spot, they found the victim critically injured and they took him to the Farwaniya Hospital.
Meanwhile the daily said police were able to arrest the suspect in a short time. He was reportedly holed up inside his home. He has been referred to the Criminal Investigation Department and a case of murder attempt has been registered against him.

KD 1,500 stolen from home:
A Kuwaiti man has filed a complaint with the Abu Halifa Police Station accusing unidentified thieves of stealing KD 1,500 from his home, reports Al-Anba daily.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints.

Grocer beaten up: Police are looking for two unidentified young men for allegedly breaking into an Iranian grocery shop in Hawalli, beating the salesman and stealing KD 150, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The grocer in his complaint to the police said the men entered the shop and demanded that he hand over the money.
When he refused one of them started beating him and the other pointed a ‘gun’ at him hidden under a piece of cloth.
The grocer fearing for his life handed over the money and the suspects flung the gun at the man and escaped in the car.
The gun turned out to be a felt pen, hidden under a piece of cloth.
