KUWAIT CITY, Nov 14: An Ethiopian housemaid died after her Kuwaiti sponsor allegedly beat her.
Sources revealed the Kuwaiti took the victim from a domestic labor office in Hawally to work in his house on probationary status. Sources said the housemaid had difficulties during the training period, so the sponsor decided to return her to the recruitment firm. However, they had a heated argument on the way to the office, prompting him to punch her several times in the face. When they reached the office, she came out of the vehicle and fell unconscious on the ground. The office was closed but some housemaids staying there confirmed the sponsor beat the victim.

The accused was referred to the Public Prosecution for further interrogation as he is said to have denied the charges during preliminary investigations, claiming the housemaid succumbed to an undisclosed illness. High-ranking security officials supervised the initial interrogations.

Meanwhile, in another version by Al-Rai daily, police took into custody a Kuwaiti man for allegedly killing his Ethiopian housemaid.

According to reports the suspect returned the maid to the Maids Employment Office located inside a complex on the Ibn Khaldoun Street.

The daily added at some point the maid was involved in an argument with the sponsor and she reportedly raised her voice. The Kuwaiti lost control and punched her in the face.
She reportedly bled to death inside the complex.

Indian found dead: The corpse of a 51-year-old Indian which was found at an isolated spot in Qibla has referred to Forensics to identify the cause of death, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The daily added initial reports show the man died of cardiac arrest.
Meanwhile, a police source commenting on the death of an Eritrean woman who was run over by an unidentified motorist on the Taawon Street in Salmiya said the man was driving without a licence, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The daily quoting police sources said the man’s driving licence had been impounded earlier for reckless driving. The daily did not give more details.

Woman killed: An unidentified Asian woman died on the spot when she was run over by an Arab motorist while crossing a road in Salmiya, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The corpse of the victim has been referred to Forensics. The motorist is detained at the area police station.
