‘Labor’ stops receiving absconding complaints Wait until legal workers end strike: Enezi

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 14: The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor has temporarily suspended receiving complaints against absconding employees until the legal workers end their strike.

In a recent press statement, Deputy Director for Labor Relations and Director of the shelter for expatriate
workers Hadi Al-Enezi explained this step was taken due to the ongoing strike of the legal workers, who have refused to receive and process complaints since the start of the protest action.

He pointed out this might have a negative impact on the work procedures and the rights of all parties involved, because it is unreasonable for the ministry to receive the complaints if the legal workers do not want to process these transactions.

In another development, Al-Kandari issued decision number 462T/2011 on the formation of a committee tasked to address the administrative and financial problems the Sawaber Cooperative Society.

This came after the undersecretary received a memo from the Cooperative Societies Department on the liquidation of the cooperative and the declaration of its bankruptcy due to its failure to pay the suppliers.
It has been reported the suppliers have filed a number of lawsuits against the management of the cooperative. Sources confirmed the memo will be forwarded to Minister Dr Mohammad Al-Afasi soon.
