Baby’s residence - Father currently on temporary residence
I’m an American and I’ve been in Kuwait 3 years on Visa 18. My wife is on my visa as a dependent. We had a baby 5 weeks ago. We only have a few weeks to complete our baby’s papers. My company is changing my sponsor so now I have a Visa 14 (temporary residence) till I can complete the Visa 18 process. How will this affect my wife’s visa and can I take my baby out of the country and, bring her back in and get her a visit visa also?

Answer: As long as you don’t leave the country and your new work permit is being processed you will have no problem with your wife’s visa. But you are likely to run into problems with your baby’s residence and you can’t put her on a dependent’s visa. And you have to complete all the process within 60 days of the child’s birth.
There is, however, a way out of this problem. You should meet an Immigration official and get a temporary residence (Article 14) for your baby. This will save you a lot legal hassles later on.
