Police arrest Asians with 140 bottles of local brew in 2 vehicles
KUWAIT CITY, Nov 4: Hawalli Traffic Police, in coordination with Kuwait Public Transport Company (KPTC) impounded 20 vehicles on Belajat and Restaurants Streets in Salmiya area, and issued citations against their owners following several complaints security operatives received from citizens and expatriates which said a number of youths were performing stunts with their vehicles and putting life in danger.
Also, traffic police issued violations against 40 motorists riding tinted glass vehicles, and others changing the color of their vehicles without the knowledge of General Traffic Department, as well as vehicles decorated with stickers, and drivers without license.
Liquor bottles seized: Farwaniya securitymen seized 80 bottles of local liquor from a half lorry and arrested its Asian driver and his partners at a checkpoint set up in the area. The Asians reportedly confessed that they trade in liquor. They have been referred to authorities for further action.
Meanwhile, personnel from the Southern Highway Patrol have arrested two unidentified Asians for bootlegging, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to reports the patrolmen suspected a car driven by two persons because when they looked nervous when they saw the police patrol pass by.The patrolmen ordered the man behind the wheel to pull over and while checking their IDs the men fumbled with the reply when they were asked which area they were heading for.
Police then checked their vehicle and in the booth of the car found cartons containing 60 bottles of locally manufactured liquor.
The men and the liquor have been referred to the concerned authorities.
Arab man found dead: The remains of an unidentified Arab expatriate who was found dead inside his room in Wafra have been referred to Forensics to identify the cause of death, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The death was reported to the Operations Department of the Ministry of Interior by the man's roommate.
According to the informant he found the man lying in bed in an unusual manner and when he tried to wake him up the man did not reply.
He added he then discovered the man had died. Initial reports show the man may have died of natural causes.
Women loses temper: A Kuwaiti woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, has been arrested by the police for irresponsible behavior, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to reports the woman went to a bank branch at an unidentified location and requested the front desk officer to issue her an ATM card.
The daily added the woman got angry because the officer, according to her, took too long to complete procedures.
She then verbally abused the officer, stepped out of the bank premises and pelted stones and bottles at the faade and left.
Not satisfied with what she had done, she returned with an inflammable substance, poured it near the entrance to the bank and set it on fire. She then tried to escape from the scene but the bank guard prevented her and summoned police.
Police arrest drunkard: The Hawalli security patrolmen are said to have arrested an unidentified citizen of a Gulf state for drinking alcohol. He was picked up from the vicinity of the Arabian Gulf Road for driving under the influence of alcohol, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to reports the man was arrested on suspicion for reckless driving and police discovered he was drunk.
He has been handed over to the concerned authorities.
