Municipality to get ‘tough’ - High alert on Eid
KUWAIT CITY, Nov 3, (KUNA): There would be tough watch and inspections throughout the holidays season and establishment who violate the terms of their licenses, ignore public norms, or endanger consumers health in any way would be held accountable, stressed Head of Kuwait Municipality Ahmad Al-Subih in remarks to KUNA, Thursday.
Al-Subih said restaurants and cafes found offering services beyond their permits shall face legal ramifications, with no exceptions.
Capital branch director Fahad Al-Otaibi, meanwhile said recent inspections by the foodstuff and municipal services department staff revealed activities against the grain of local social norms and customs. The establishment, a restaurant, was found offering party organizer services involving use of loud speakers and live singers and performers’ shows without permit.
A violation was registered against the establishment involving utilization of premises beyond terms of permit, offering foodstuff falling below authorized specifications, and employing staff without health certification. The municipality staff also destroyed 13 kilograms of meat which does not fall within authorized specifications.
The municipality is to toughen watch even more for the Eid holiday season, he said, and one establishment was caught and closed down after selling defrosted frozen meat as “fresh” to the public. A quantity of meat weighing 85 kilograms was destroyed at said butcher shop.
