Woman flees son, husband in murder bid over domestic row
KUWAIT CITY, Nov 1: A Kuwaiti woman has filed a complaint with the Mubarak Al-Kabir Police Station accusing her son and husband of attempting to kill her, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The woman following an argument with her son and husband the former tried to stab her with a knife. She also claimed the father assisted him but she managed to escape from them.
The father and the son will be summoned for interrogation.
Anti-riots force quits: The Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Lt General Suleiman Al-Fahd has opened an investigation with the leaders of the riots unit of the General Department of the Special Security Forces because more than 60 personnel from the riot battalion have refused to perform their tasks and instead submitted sick leaves in tandem, reports Al-Jaridah daily quoting knowledgeable security sources.
The sources say the military personnel have taken this action to protest the treatment meted out to them by one of the officers who assigns them in all missions of the unit.
Al-Fahd has also ordered an investigation with Coast Guard officers after the Ministry of Interior received an official complaint from their Iraqi counterparts on the arrest of Iraqi fishermen last weekend by the Kuwaiti Coast Guard.
The complaint says the Iraqis have been handed over to the Iraqi authorities but some of them are said to have sustained injuries.
Wanted drunkard held: Police have arrested a GCC citizen who was wanted by law in connection with 27 crimes, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reports the man was arrested for disturbing shoppers (girls and young women) inside a commercial complex in Hawalli. Following the arrest the police not only discovered the man was under the influence of alcohol, but that he had been sentenced in absentia in connection with 19 cases of financial fraud and eight other offenses related to consuming alcohol in public places.
Maids den raided: Police recently raided an outhouse at an unidentified location and arrested 10 runaway housemaids on whom ‘absconding’ reports had been filed by their sponsors at various police stations in the country, reports Al-Rai daily.
The daily added the arrest came when a Kuwaiti saw his runaway maid and followed her until she entered the outhouse and called the police.
All the maids have been referred to the concerned authorities to prepare their deportation from the country.
Woman fraud caught: Police have arrested an unidentified Arab woman who was wanted by law for issuing dud cheques for KD 2,000, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reports the suspect lured women - some of them Kuwaitis and others expatriate - to join her in a business venture.
Then she opened a tailoring shop for women and received money from investors in the business and as surety for the money signed cheques in favor of the investors.
When the business failed to materialize, the investors deposited the cheques in their accounts to retrieve their money and discovered the suspect has no bank balance to cover the cheques.
The arrest came following complaints filed by the victims.
Buggy thief nabbed: Police have arrested an unidentified youth and are looking for another for stealing an ATV (all-terrain-vehicle) belonging to a Kuwaiti man, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
A police source said the Kuwaiti man was driving in a desert in Sulaibiya and he saw two youths riding his buggy which he had reported stolen a few months ago.
He added he grabbed one of them but the other managed to escape on foot. He then handed over the youth to the police and during interrogation he not only admitted to the charge but gave details of his accomplice.
Arab woman beaten: Police have arrested a Kuwaiti man believed to be in his 30s for driving under the influence of alcohol and beating an Arab woman, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to reports the Kuwaiti got angry because the woman honked at him while driving in Hawalli. The man has been referred to a police station.
