Tons of food seized in hawkers raid Youth returns to police KD 500 found in ATM machine; Cash machine stolen
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 30: A Kuwait Municipality team launched a comprehensive campaign against hawkers in Farwaniya and Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh areas and confiscated seven tons of foodstuffs, vegetables, fruits, fish and clothes, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Three Asians were also arrested for selling CDs containing pornographic material during the campaign. They were arrested in possession of 300 pirated CDs.
The Asians and the hawkers turned out to be residence law violators, said sources, adding all of them were referred to authorities for legal action.
Honest youth: When a Kuwaiti youth went to an ATM of a local bank branch, he was shocked to find the machine ‘spitting’ KD 500 from the slot even before he had inserted his card, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
He looked around if anyone was watching him or if he had been filmed by a CCTV camera but found no one around.
However, he also found the ATM card belonging to another person. The card and the money have been handed over to the Sabah Al-Salem Police Station.
Cash machine stolen: Police are looking for four unidentified persons for breaking into a grocery shop in Salmi and stealing a cash machine containing an unidentified sum of money and prepaid telephone cards, reports Al-Rai daily.
In his complaint the grocer said the suspects were armed - some with sharp objects and one of them carried a gun. They threatened to kill him if he shouted for help and escaped in a car bearing no number plate.
Asians waylaid: Police have arrested two bedoun for robbing Asians, reports Al-Rai daily.
The daily quoting security sources said the arrest came after the Hawalli Police Station received complaints from several Asians who complained that two youths driving in a German car waylaid them and robbed their money.
The daily added police set a trap for the suspects and caught them at an unidentified location.
During interrogation they admitted to committing seven thefts. They have been referred to the concerned authorities.
Call trader nabbed: Acting on information and armed with a search and arrest warrant issued by the Public Prosecution, the Firdous police raided an outhouse in the area and arrested an Asian man for ‘robbing’ telephone lines belonging to Kuwaitis and offering illegal overseas call services, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Police investigations revealed the suspect was using 19 telephone lines belonging to Kuwaitis over the past eight months. The daily added police have contacted all the victims to know the loss incurred by them following the theft of their lines.
