Bedoun acquitted in kidnap, rape of girl Verdict upheld as man to pay ex-wife expenses
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 29: The Criminal Court acquitted a Bedoun of kidnapping and molesting a girl.
Case files indicate the girl’s father dropped her at the institute where she is studying. After her classes, she called her friend — a Bedoun — who came and picked her up. However, he allegedly touched her private body parts and tried to hug her when she entered his car. She resisted and screamed, prompting the Bedoun to let go of her. She then flagged down a taxi and went home where she found her father waiting for her. She told her father about the incident, prompting him to file a complaint at a nearby police station.
When summoned at the station for questioning, the Bedoun denied the charges, saying he had a heated argument with the girl but he did not molest her. He was referred to the concerned security department for further investigation after the girl’s father insisted on filing a case against him. Attorney Mohammed Al-Wawan, lawyer for the accused, demanded for the acquittal of his client due to lack of incriminating evidence, pointing out the Forensics report backed the statement of the Bedoun. The court ruled in favor of the Bedoun after weighing the pieces of evidence and arguments presented by both sides. He was declared innocent and the case was dismissed.
Verdict upheld: The Appeals Section at the Personal Status Court upheld the ruling of the First Instance Court, which had previously ordered a citizen to pay KD 200 monthly to his ex-wife and daughter.
Attorney Faisal Al-Otaibi, the ex-wife’s lawyer, submitted documents to the court to support the claim of his client that the citizen has the ability to provide financial support. He argued in court that the citizen has to pay alimony as he failed to do so ever since he asked his ex-wife to leave their house. The court also ordered the citizen to pay the salary of the maid, who assists his ex-wife in raising their daughter.
