Hunt launched for shrewd Iraqi sorceress, in Kuwait via ‘wasta’ Master in local dialect, Arab expat cheats Kuwaitis
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 26: Police are looking for an Iraqi woman for practicing sorcery, reports Al-Dar daily.
A police source said the sorceress was arrested in Abdali in 2006 in possession of sorcery tools. When she was refused entry into Kuwait, a police officer intervened and facilitated her entry because the officer’s mother had issued her a visit visa.
The source added the sorceress received large amounts of money from three Kuwaiti artistes, one of them allegedly paid her KD 1,700 for her services.
Without going into details the sources also said the sorceress duped a GCC national to the tune of KD 3,000.
According to sources the sorceress changed her accommodation from time to time using a civil ID of a dead Kuwaiti man.
Kuwaitis cheated: Police have arrested an Arab man for cheating a number of Kuwaitis by luring them to invest their money on the Kuwait Stock Exchange market and promising them high returns, reports Al-Rai daily.
A police source said the fraudster cheated his victims by mastering the Kuwaiti dialect.
The victims provided police with information about the swindler but police discovered the cheat had given them false information about himself.
However, the suspect was arrested after he tried to cheat another citizen.
Call-traders held: Acting on information, the Farwaniya police in cooperation with personnel from the Ministry of Communications raided an illegal communications center in Farwaniya and arrested 10 Asians for robbing telephone lines and offering illegal overseas call services, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Police are said to have confiscated 20 computers, 50 telephones and 20 sets wireless in addition to 15 routers.
It has been reported the Asians were using the kitchen of an apartment as a cabin for their illegal activities.
Maid in suicide bid: An Asian housemaid who is believed to be in her 30s was rushed to the intensive care unit of the Mubarak Al-Kabir Hospital following a void attempt to end her life by swallowing a large quantity of medicine pills inside her home in Jabriya, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
A case of suicide attempt has been registered against the maid. Police are waiting for her to be discharged from hospital to interrogate her why she wanted to end her life.
Meat mincer for pay: Police have arrested an Asian man for stealing a meat mincer from the butcher’s shop in Sabahiya belonging to his sponsor, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to the complainant, the Asian after closing the shop sent a message on his cell phone saying he had taken the mincer in return for the salaries not paid by the sponsor.
The Asian has been detained for interrogation.
Bangladeshi thieves held: Police have arrested a four-man gang of Bangladeshis for stealing parts of trucks parked in open areas, reports Al-Qabas daily.
A police patrol on routine duty saw the suspects at ‘work’ and arrested them on suspicion in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh.
During interrogation they admitted to stealing the parts and selling them to shops in Amghara.
Burglar sought: Police are looking for an unidentified burglar who allegedly broke into a shop belonging to a Kuwaiti man in Bayan and escaped with KD 650 in cash, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The owner of the shop has filed a complaint with the police. He said he discovered the theft in the morning when he went to open the shop for business.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprit.
Man held with ‘pills’: The Mubarak Al-Kabir police have arrested a Kuwaiti man for possessing 25 narcotic pills, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. According to reports the suspect was seized from the parking lot of a school in Sabah Al-Salem. During interrogation the citizen is said to have admitted to consuming and trafficking in narcotics.
Hash fags with duo: The Ahmadi police have arrested two youths for possessing hashish filled cigarettes, reports Al-Rai daily.
The daily added the suspects were arrested while driving along a coastal road. The daily did not give more details.
