MPs plan to file grilling requests against defence, interior ministers Dashti queries on nationality of certain lawmaker

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 24: Some lawmakers have unveiled their plan to submit interpellation requests against two ministers in the next legislative round, reports Alam Alyawm daily quoting sources.
Disclosing the requests will be presented immediately after that of HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on the multimillion dinar deposit scam, sources confirmed MP Abdulrahman Al-Anjari intends to grill First Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah. Sources said MPs Dr Hassan Jowhar, Naji Al-Abdulhadi and Shuaib Al-Muwaizri will file a grilling request against Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Sheikh Ahmad Al-Humoud.
Sources explained the lawmakers agreed, in a meeting Sunday, to postpone the grilling of the two ministers until the Popular Labor, Development and Reform blocs approve the interpellation request against the premier. Sources said the grilling of Sheikh Ahmad Al-Humoud will focus on two issues — unfair selection of trainee officers and the torture death of Mohammad Al-Maimouni.
Meanwhile, MP Dr Rola Dashti submitted a parliamentary query, asking Minister of Interior Sheikh Ahmad Al-Humoud whether a certain MP held Kuwaiti nationality as per the last paragraph of Article 7 of the Nationality Law, reports Annahar daily.
Dashti asked the minister to give the names of MPs who were granted citizenship according to this article and since which date they were considered ‘original’ Kuwaitis. She also inquired whether a certain MP got his nationality status changed to the First Article and requested for a list of MPs whose nationality status was changed.
