We ‘understand’ FM resignation, says PM ‘Faithful, patriotic’

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 24, (KUNA): The cabinet, in its weekly meeting Sunday, thanked Sheikh Dr Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister, for his service and said it “understands” his resignation.
His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, informing the cabinet about Sheikh Mohammad’s resignation, expressed “understanding and appreciation for this resignation,” Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ali Al-Rashed said in a statement.
Sheikh Nasser, he added, praised the “distinguished” role that Sheikh Mohammad played while in office specially during “a crucial” phase of Kuwait’s history.
The Prime Minister said Sheikh Mohammad was “faithful and patriotic,” wishing him all the best, added Al-Rashed.
Earlier today, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah was sworn in before His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister.
Meanwhile, recent interpretations by the Constitutional Court on Constitutional Articles related to interpellations presented to His Highness the Prime Minister are binding on everybody, rather than mere views, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ali Fahad Al-Rashed said Sunday.
In a statement to KUNA, the minister quoted the court as emphasizing that the interpretations of Constitutional Articles 100, 123 and 127 on queries put forward to HH the Premier must be observed as per the constitution.
Any interpellation to be presented to HH the Premier must be restricted to the government’s general policy, rather than a ministry’s executive works or even a minister’s work, Al-Rashed explained.
In this context, the Cabinet urged everybody concerned to abide by the rulings of the constitution in light of the Constitutional Court’s interpretations with a view to establishing the constitutional legitimacy and consecrating the democratic approach.
In another development, the government of Kuwait extended deepest condolences to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia on the passing away of Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General.
The government, in a meeting chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, paid tribute to the late Prince Sultan and his role in serving his country.
The government affirmed that the Kuwaiti people would never forget Prince Sultan’s “courageous” support for the Kuwaiti just causes during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait until the liberation of the country, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ali Al-Rashed said in a statement.
