KUWAIT CITY, Oct 23: A 31-year-old Syrian woman who attempted to end her life by swallowing a large quantity of medicine was taken to a hospital and given stomach wash, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to reports the paramedics acted quickly following a call from family members. The woman has been admitted to the intensive care unit. According to the woman’s relative she was overtaken by grief after seeing the death of Muammar Al-Gaddafi of Libya on television.
Kidnap bid foiled: Police are looking for four unidentified youths for attempting to kidnap a nine-year-old boy in Taima, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The daily added a youth, believed to be a weightlifter, heard the screams of the boy and when he rushed to the rescue he saw one of the youths attempting to gag the mouth of the boy.
When the weightlifter intervened the foursome claimed he was their brother, but the latter denied and said the suspects were planning to kidnap him.
Hackers non-Kuwaitis: Police investigations show persons who have abused Kuwaiti icons and some notable personalities on social networking websites are not Kuwaitis but people from other GCC states, reports Al-Dar daily.
A security source said investigations show these persons are against Kuwait and each of them has more than 10 accounts on twitter.
They also seemingly send messages at the same time and it appears as if a big campaign is in the offing against certain personalities which is not true.
Women held drunk: Police have arrested six unidentified youngsters — two Kuwaitis and four bedoun (two of them young women) — for drinking alcohol, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to reports the ‘drunkards’ were taken into custody from the Jamal Abdul Nasser Road. Sources say police saw two vehicles parked in a suspicious manner off the road and when the securitymen approached the vehicles they found the occupants of the car were under the influence of alcohol. Police have seized from one of the cars two bottles of booze (one of them Vodka) and referred the drunkards to the authorities.
