Man trying to swindle expats, Kuwaitis fall into his own trap GCC citizen held for issuing KD 90,000 dud cheque
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 22: A swindler sent text messages to a number of Kuwaitis and expatriates, asking them to clear their mobile phone bills, reports Al-Shahed daily. The swindler claimed that he was from the Customer Services Office of a telecommunications company and asked his victims to deposit the money in a certain bank account. He even gave a fake telephone number of the legal officer of the company.
The matter came to light when an officer of the Customer Services Office received the message.
The swindler allegedly hacked the database of the company and stole information about subscribers.
Dud cheque issued: Police arrested a GCC national wanted by law for issuing dud cheque worth KD 90,000 and referred him to the Sentences Enforcement Department, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
After intensive investigations, police succeeded in identifying the whereabouts of the swindler and arrested him in Shuwaikh Industrial Area, say sources.
9 illegals held: Farwaniya police, in cooperation with Immigration securitymen, launched an intensive campaign against law violators and arrested nine Asians for violating residency law, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The violators have been referred to authorities for deportation.
Officer’s wife slapped: Police have arrested an Arab expatriate for slapping the wife of a senior police officer, reports Al-Rai daily.
The Kuwaiti woman called her husband, a brigadier, saying she got into an argument over road rules with an Arab man in Salmiya and that the latter stepped out of his car and slapped her.
The brigadier called the Operations Department of the Interior Ministry following which police rushed to the scene and referred the expatriate to Rumaithiya Police Station and the woman to a hospital.
Abuse on ‘Twitter’: A former minister, whose identity has not been disclosed, lodged a complaint at Rumaithiya Police Station, accusing a person of abusing him on social networking site ‘Twitter,’ reports Al-Rai daily.
The former minister provided all details of the case to police.
