Iran waits for Kuwait’s reply on possible meet of 3 nations Bid to discuss continental shelf

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 22: Tehran is waiting for Kuwait’s response to a possible meeting of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iran to discuss the continental shelf, reports Al-Rai daily.
Sources were quoted as saying bilateral discussions between Kuwait and Iran will pave the way for HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to sign the accord during his visit to Tehran, indicating Iran declared a clear stance as Kuwait’s Speaker of Parliament visited the country recently. Sources hope the two sides will agree on a necessary solution before Riyadh comes in.
Earlier, Kuwait proposed at a meeting of Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Al-Saheli and Kuwait’s former minister of foreign affairs Sheikh Dr Mohammed Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah at the sideline of the Asian Dialogue Forum that Saudi Arabia must be present while Iran and Kuwait discuss the issue. Hence, Tehran expected Kuwait to communicate with Saudi Arabia to provide the necessary feedback.
In another development, there are indications that Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid will be declared the Minister of Foreign Affairs by Sunday or Monday.
Moreover, a new minister will be appointed for the Ministry of Information outside the current cabinet, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily quoting informed sources.
