Municipality inspections of co-ops record 25 violations Ministry to punish CD piracy offenders
KUWAIT, Oct 16, (KUNA): Director General of the Kuwait Municipality Ahmad Al-Sebeeh affirmed on Sunday that inspection campaigns will be launched around the clock on co-operative societies and super markets around the country to ensure that food products are fit for human consumption and comply with health regulations.
These campaigns aim to stop and prosecute violators of Municipality laws and regulations in order to safeguard the wellbeing of consumers, Al-Sabeeh told KUNA, praising the municipality inspectors’ efforts. “They continue working nights and days in order to put matters into the right perspective”, He said.
For his part, Director of the Kuwait Municipality branch in Ahmadi Fahad Al-Otaibi said on Sunday that these campaigns aim at protecting consumers health.
He noted to KUNA that the municipality has spotted many violations in several co-operative society warehouses where food products were stored imporoperly.
Al-Otaibi said 25 various violations have been recorded as a result of these campaings.
Meanwhile, two orders were issued to destroy unspeificed amounts of food products deemed unfit for human consumption.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Information is increasing staff in its control and inspection sectors to make sure that pirated and copied CDs do not make it to the market, a reliable source in the ministry told Al-Dar daily.
Stating that the ministry is keen on fighting piracy, the source said it is adopting new supervision methods and will strictly punish offenders who are spoiling Kuwait’s reputation abroad.
The source added that new proposals on protecting intellectual rights will be soon submitted to Undersecretary Sheikh Humoud Al-Salman Al-Sabah.
