Liquor factory in Jleeb; Lankan drug peddler held

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 15: Ahmadi police arrested a Sri Lankan for trafficking in drugs and referred him to authorities, reports Al-Anba daily.
The man was arrested at a police checkpoint in Mangaf in possession of an unspecified quantity of marijuana.

Liquor factory in Jleeb: Farwaniya securitymen raided a liquor factory in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh where they found 58 barrels of locally brewed alcohol, 500 bottles ready for sale, steaming pipes and other equipment for producing local alcohol.
Security sources said two Asians — a man and a woman — had rented an apartment in the area and used it as a liquor factory.  The suspects were referred to the concerned security department for the necessary legal action.

Senior officials in theft: Minister of Public Works and State Minister for Municipal Affairs Dr Fadhel Safar has demanded that officials who were earlier caught stealing sand from state property sites be referred to the public prosecution, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Some senior officials of Kuwait Municipality are said to be involved in the case.

7,000 crimes in 6 months: Statistics issued by the Public Prosecution reveal that 7,000 crimes were committed in the country from January until July 2011, reports Al-Seyassah daily. These include 908 murder and assault cases.
