One of the companies to tackle trafficking in persons Study eyed on proposed 3 firms

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 15: The government has instructed the Higher Planning Council and Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) to conduct a feasibility study on the proposed establishment of three companies, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting sources.
Sources revealed one of the companies will be in charge of recruiting workers from abroad to combat trafficking in persons and visa trading, in addition to eliminating marginal workers in the country. Sources said the company will be established through the coordinated efforts of the Interior, Health, Social Affairs and Labor ministries. Sources confirmed these ministries will work with the manpower public authority, which was approved recently by the Cabinet.
Sources added the second company will be tasked to develop the educational sector and it will be established in collaboration with the KIA and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, while the third company will be in charge of scientific research in various fields. The research company will be under the supervision of Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), Kuwait University (KU) and Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS). Sources affirmed the government has specified the period for the establishment of these companies.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Finance, KIA and Huge Projects Committee, have finalized the budget for a number of development projects, which will be implemented in the coming period. Sources said the government has allocated KD 150 million for the industrial zone in Naeem, KD 320 million for the health insurance company, and KD 220 million for border stores.
