‘KAC staff with 30 years service not being retired’ Al-Othaina visits trade union office
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 14: The Minister of Electricity and Water, Minister of Information, and Acting Minister of Communications Salem Al-Othaina has denied reports that there is intention to force into retirement Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) employees who have spent 30 years in service, reports Al-Anba daily.
Al-Othaina also denied making any such statements. This came during his visit to the Kuwait Airways trade union last Thursday at Al-Sha’ab Al-Bahri.
However, the minister has announced that there are no delays in the process of privatization of the Kuwait Airways.
He added everything is being done according to the schedule chalked out by the Ministry of Finance. He also announced a meeting will be held with the finance committee of the National Assembly to discuss the privatization scheme.
He pointed out the issue was also discussed by the Council of Ministers last Thursday.
Al-Othaina revealed orders have been issued to set up a meeting with members of the Budgets Committee to discuss issues related to the privatization plan. The minister stressed the demands of the airline’s employees are legitimate.
