It is cold-blooded murder, not case of drug overdose: family Missing parrot, caretaker deepen mystery
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 11: The death of 32-year-old Mahmoud Al Bannai in the holy month of Ramadan till date remains a mystery according to his family, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
According to the family Al-Bannai dreamt of a bright future for himself and his family. The neighbors and friends loved him and he did not have any enemies. He died on Aug 24, 2011 and his death was discovered only the next day.
The family says Mahmoud’s death was tragic. They claim he died at the hands of four of his friends in the month of mercy, forgiveness and good deeds. However, according to a Forensic report the victim died as a result of an overdose of drugs.
But the mother and his brother believe Mahmoud was murdered. They say the picture taken by them of the victim at the scene of the crime is a testimony of their belief.
Betrayed
Mahmoud’s brother says it is a cold-blooded murder. He says his face and head were bruised and he bled from the head wound and through the nose. He claims Mahmoud was betrayed by the four friends whom he accuses of killing his brother.
However, the Forensic Medicine report says the death occurred between 10:00 and 12:00 hours. The brother quoting an Egyptian guard says one man was seen going up to the apartment of the victim and that they were in the apartment up to 5:00 in the morning then at 9:00 two others arrived.
According to the guard the four may have been in the apartment the entire day and might have taken the advantage to destroy the evidence.
The brother also claims when the victim’s wife, who at the time of his death was at her mother’s place, went with him to look for her husband in his apartment because she discovered his cell phone had been switched off and found him in a pool of blood.
He said after the death was reported to the police, the area was cordoned off by security officers, detectives. He added the wall, furniture in the apartment were splattered with blood and his brother was bleeding from the back of his head, mouth and ears.
The victim’s brother claims the suspects after beating the victim on the head allegedly with a hammer — which was in the apartment and later went missing — injected the victim in three places the thigh, left shoulder and right vein. He explained a drug addict usually injects himself into the vein.
Another surprising thing to note, he says is the disappearance of the victim’s parrot Casco from the apartment who spoke fluently. He said his later brother loved birds and frequently visited the bird market. He says the alleged suspects also got rid of his parrot fearing the parrot may imitate what it had heard the suspects speaking.
Respiratory
The brother says according to a report issued by the Forensic Medicine department the direct cause of death was respiratory failure.
The brother of the victim claims the detectives are not cooperating with the victim’s family to provide them with information. He also says the Forensic report was issued after 40 days indicating the victim died as a result of an overdose of drugs.
The brother quoting legal sources say in the event of death of drug abusers, for example from an overdose of drugs, it should not take more than four days for the concerned authority to issue a report indicating the cause of death. The brother says this is premeditated murder.
The family has appealed to the Minister of Interior Sheikh Ahmad Al-Hmoud, the Attorney General as members of the National Assembly to help the family find the truth.
The brother says there are many indications which lead the family to believe Mahmoud was murdered and did not die as a result of overdose of drugs such as the blood splattered all over the place, the disappearance of the parrot and the hammer (which the victim used to hit nails in the wall to hang cages) from the apartment, the cell phone, sign of the apartment being washed to destroy evidence, one of the four men is the victim’s uncle, a government official, and the building guard who was the alleged prime witness leaving the country.
