Editor fined in defamation suit Bu Yabes freed on KD 1,000 bail
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 10: The Public Prosecution released journalist Hamid Turki Bu Yabes on a KD 1,000 bail bond after he had been detained upon allegations filed by the First Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak for details he published on a military deal.
Earlier, the Public Prosecution denied Bu Yabes freedom when he refused to pay the bond.
Editor fined: The Criminal Court imposed a fine of KD 3,000 on the Editor-in-Chief of Al-Dar newspaper Abdul-Hussein Al-Sultan in the defamation case filed by Undersecretary at the Ministry of Information Sheikh Faisal Al-Malik. It also obligated Al-Sultan to pay temporary compensation worth KD 5,001.
Case dismissed: Administrative Court supervised by counselor Adel Al-Kandari dismissed a lawsuit a Bedoun had filed against the Undersecretary of Ministry of Education.
The plaintiff implored the court to order the transfer of his children from a private school to a public school within his residential area because their current school is far from their home. He also said his deteriorating health condition prevents him from driving the children to school. Meanwhile, the man intends to appeal the verdict.
Murder case hearing: The Criminal Court on Tuesday will study the Forensic report in the torture and murder of Kuwaiti citizen Mohammad Al-Maimouni. Twenty people, most of whom are investigating officers, are accused of murdering the citizen.
The Public Prosecution had charged the men for brutally torturing Al-Maimouni to death.
