Syrian ‘mandoub’ arrested for swindling expatriates
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 9: The Hawalli police have arrested an unidentified Syrian representative of a company for committing fraud and swindling expatriates, reports Al-Qabas daily.
According to complaints filed by the victims the suspect took money in the name of completing various types of transactions at government departments and did not keep his word.
Acting on these complaints a team was formed to arrest the man. The police put the man under surveillance and finally caught him red-handed.
Currencies stolen from home: Police are looking for an unidentified person for breaking into the home of a Kuwaiti man in Qairawan, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
In his complaint to the police the man said the man escaped with 700 Kuwaiti dinars, 2,000 Saudi riyals and 350 Iranian toman in addition to a laptop computer and jewelry.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the suspect.
Bid to evade arrest: Police have arrested an unidentified Kuwaiti youth for spraying a kind of substance in the eyes of a police officer, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reports this happened in Salmiya when the victim asked the youth to show his ID. The latter reached for his pocket and pulled out a canister and sprayed the gas into the eyes and face of the police officer and escaped.
The victim called out for help and when his colleague rushed to his rescue, the suspect had escaped from the scene.
The police patrols in the area were alerted and they combed the area but failed to find the suspect.
The details about the suspect were circulated to all police patrols in the area and a search began. Following the arrest the youth denied the charges against him, but after he was picked up by the victim from a legal lineup he admitted to the charge. However, he denied carrying the gas canister with him but said he found it on the road. He has been referred to the Directorate-General of Criminal Investigations for legal action.
Man caught driving drunk: Police have arrested an unidentified motorist from a GCC state for driving under the influence of alcohol and violating a traffic law, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reports a police patrol saw the man driving recklessly on Amman Street and ordered him to pull over.
The daily added, the man tried in vain to escape from police, but the securitymen chased and arrested him and his girlfriend who was in the passenger seat.
It has also been reported the man was driving a vehicle with tinted glass. The man has been detained at the Salmiya Police Station.
