KUWAIT CITY, Oct 8: Salmiya securitymen arrested an unidentified foreign national of Arab origin for swindling a number of expatriates and stealing a total of KD 10,000 from them, reports Al-Rai daily.
The fraud convinced his victims to part with their money, saying he would invest it in the American stock exchange and conveniently disappeared after taking their money.
Securitymen conducted intense investigations after receiving several complaints and managed to arrest the swindler. He was later released after he wrote a pledge, promising to return the money after a month.

Liquor-tainted toffees: Inspectors from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry closed down a shop which was allegedly selling alcohol-filled chocolates, reports Al-Anba daily.
Legal action will be taken against the owner of the shop, said sources.

Call for death sentence: Chai-rman of the Municipal Council Zaid Ayesh Al-Azmi called for the handing of harshest sentence, including death sentence, to those who trade in spoilt food, reports Al-Rai daily. Al-Azmi said such people trade in the health of people.

Asian ‘stoned’: An Asian man was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit of Jahra Hospital with a serious head injury after some boys threw stones at him, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
A police source said some boys in Al-Naseem, Jahra, were throwing stones at passers-by. One of the stones hit the car of the Asian and broke the window pane. When the victim got down to see what happened, another stone hit him on the head, gravely injuring him. The boys ran away before police could reach the place.
