Minister of Education and Higher Education Ahmad Al-Mulaifi allegedly rejected the request of Faisal Kankouni, head of the association of Kuwaiti students with certificates from unaccredited universities in other countries, while he was on his way to his office after the Teachers Day celebration Wednesday.

A source revealed the minister told Kankouni to set an appointment with him in a calm manner. However, the leader and some members of the association got furious and this nearly led to a pandemonium, if not for the intervention of Abdullah Al-Qahttani - head of the minister’s office, the source added.

According to the source, Al-Qahttani allowed the student leader to enter the minister’s office to discuss the issue. After 15 minutes, Kankouni got out of the office and informed the other students that the minister has agreed to meet him next week.

Kankouni claimed the committee formed by Ministry of Higher Education Undersecretary Dr Khalid Al-Sa’ad to look into their case is incompetent. He pointed out the panel was established two and a half years ago but it has not achieved anything until now.
