‘Unruly’ protesting firemen face action
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 4:The Director General of Fire Services Major General Jassem Al-Mansouri reiterated readiness by the department to continue the implementation of the fingerprint attendance system after the authorities discovered that 200 firemen had been absent from duty for more than a year and resigned. He also said the Legal Affairs Department had pressed for their salaries to be paid.
On the recent demonstration by some firefighters in front of the General Fire Services Directorate, Al-Mansouri stressed that many demands presented by the demonstrators have already been fulfilled in the last five years, besides the ministry agreed on raising their allowances and basic salaries before the holy month of Ramadan because the firefighters deserve them. He confirmed the directorate has always prioritized the interests of firefighters.
Meanwhile, Al-Mansouri said appropriate action will be taken against the demonstrators who entered the main building and abused officers there, even as the management is keen on granting all their rights.
