Cheating for wedding vows
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 2: Salmiya securitymen arrested two expatriates — an Asian and an Arab — for cheating girls with false promises of marriage and taking large sums of money from them.
Both men impersonated Kuwaitis; the Asian, claiming to be a member of a very well-placed Kuwaiti family, used to propose to several girls. He allegedly made them take huge loans from banks and then disappeared with the money. He is said to have made KD 200,000 using the ploy. He spent some of the money on renting luxury vehicles, while the rest is deposited in his various bank accounts.
The other swindler, the Arab, was actually working for a cinema house. He too claimed to be a Kuwaiti and took huge sums of money from his girlfriends. Both men have been referred to authorities.

Whisky in oil bottles
In another unrelated development, Customs officers in Sulaibiya area found 17 bottles of whisky inside an oil consignment coming from France. Sources say investigations have led to the arrest of one person so far.
