Police arrest citizen for cheating business woman of KD 500,000
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 30: A Kuwaiti youth has been arrested by security operatives, two weeks after he had escaped with a vintage sports car he stole from the owner’s residence in Riqqa area.
Sources said owner of the car recognized the vehicle and notified police after the car went missing and security operatives traced and arrested the suspect who confessed to stealing the car and changing the color. The youth said he became fond of the car and followed the owner to his home in Riqqa, where he managed to steal the key and finally escaped with it. A case was registered against him.
Citizen cheats woman: The security authorities have arrested an unidentified Kuwaiti man, who is believed to be in his 50s, for cheating a Kuwaiti business woman to the tune of KD 500,000, after luring her to join his, what he called, ‘lucrative’ business, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
The arrest came following a complaint filed by the woman. In her complaint the woman said she signed a contract with the man and later discovered he was a conman.
The arresting team was headed by Director of General Department for Criminal Law Enforcement Major-General Majid Al-Majid.
The daily added when the suspect learned that an arrest warrant had been issued against him he succeeded in evading arrest until he was finally caught by the police when they raided his home in the Capital governorate.
The source added the suspect following his arrest threatened to cause harm to the securitymen because he seems to come from an influential family. He also claimed to be the brother of a former MP and also claimed one of his uncles is a minister in Iraq.
Drunk driver arrested: A 24-year old Syrian expatriate was arrested by security operatives and referred to Anti-drug General Department for drunk driving.
Sources said securitymen noticed the erratic manner by which his vehicle was moving and asked him to pull over for checking, then they discovered the suspect smelt of alcohol.
3 houses burgled: Three houses in the suburb of Abdullah Al-Mubarak have been robbed by thieves while the families were attending a wedding ceremony, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The thieves are said to have escaped with all valuable items including gold and cash.
Sources said the victims are all relatives. The daily added only one maid was left behind and one of the thieves allegedly threatened to slit her throat with a knife if she screamed for help.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprits.
