Police hunt boys, girls dancing drunk on road Govt orders stringent steps to stem arms smuggling, selling
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 27: Strict instructions have been issued to the security authorities to follow up the proliferation of light and medium range guns and to arrest persons who carry unlicensed weapons such as pistols and machineguns irrespective whether these weapons are leftovers of the Iraqi invaders, reports Al-Dar daily.
A security source said some of these weapons are believed to be remnant of ordnance left behind by the Iraqi forces after their defeat in Kuwait’s liberation. Some of these weapons were reportedly smuggled out of the country and given to the al-Qaeda extremists operating in the region and in Yemen.
A security source said smuggling and trading in weapons has almost become a phenomenon. The source also said pistols are sold in Kuwait for between KD 400 and KD 500 depending on the size of the pistol while an automatic rifle can fetch up to KD 1,000.
A security source said the security authorities of the six-member Gulf Cooperation Council are coordinating efforts to combat cross-border terrorism.
‘Drunkards’ sought: Police are looking for a group of young men and women for drinking alcohol, reports Al-Rai daily.
It has been reported the ‘drunkards’ were riding in Jeep and they reported climbed out of the vehicle and started dancing in the middle of the road, some of them carrying bottles of booze.
When an unidentified person informed the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry police patrols were dispatched to the area but no one was around.
Nurse commits suicide: An Arab nurse is said to have ended her life by consuming a large quantity of medicine pills inside her home in Farwaniya, reports Al-Rai daily.
Acting on information paramedics rushed to the home of the victim and rushed her to the Farwaniya Hospital.
The daily added doctors at the hospital failed to save her life. The remains of the victim have been referred to Forensics.
Police are investigating why the woman ended her life.
Man shot at: Police are looking for a citizen of an unidentified GCC country for shooting at an employee of the Ministry of Interior, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to a complaint filed with a police station, the employee said he was driving with a friend in Rabiya and the suspect, one of his acquaintances, asked him to pull over, shot at the car and sped off.
The complainant also said he was involved in a dispute with the suspect.
Phones, cards stolen: Police are looking for two unidentified persons for breaking into a company in Salmiya and stealing cellphones and prepaid cards worth KD 4,500, reports Al-Rai daily.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprits.
Strike called off: Some female employees at the Nutrition and Sterilization departments at the Ministry of Health are said to have suspended their strike until the end of this week because they are expected to meet with the Minister of Health Dr Hilal Al-Sayer, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
However, the daily added about 15 employees are continuing their sit-in and they are expected to be referred to the Legal Affairs Department of the Ministry for interrogation.
Worker steals cash: Police are looking for an Egyptian worker for breaking into a restaurant in Mahboula and stealing KD 1,500, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to reports the man is an employee of the restaurant and he was caught by the CCTV camera which has been installed at the restaurant. A case has been filed at the Fintas Police Station.
Saudis arrest trio: Saudi Coast Guards have arrested three Kuwaiti fishermen for fishing inside Saudi Arabia’s territorial waters, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
The men have been handed over to the Kuwaiti authorities for interrogation and legal action.
The men have also been asked to sign a pledge not to repeat the offence.
Man’s savings stolen: Police are looking for an unidentified burglar who reportedly broke into the home of an Egyptian man in Khaitan and stole KD 6,000, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The crying Egyptian said he has lost all his savings. He has filed a complaint with the Khaitan Police Station.

10 cars seized: Personnel from the Kuwait Municipality during a comprehensive campaign against reckless motorists are said to have towed to the Municipality garage 10 cars which were offered for sale by the roadside, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The daily added some of the cars which have been towed had police locks on the wheels. One of the cars taken to the Municipality garage was the one reported stolen by the owner. The car was also partially burnt.
Students assault guard: A manager of a private high school in Jahra has referred two students to the Jahra Police Station for assaulting the guard of the school, reports Al-Rai daily.
This happened when the guard prevented the students from leaving the school premises without permission. The students then assaulted the guard and left.
The guard filed a complaint with the school authorities and the next day when the students came to school, he recognized them during a morning parade. The school manager then handed over the students to the police.
