‘Free 600 inmates’ - Egyptians demonstrate Man shot in butt

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 26: Twenty-five Egyptians demonstrated in front of their country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to demand the release of 600 prisoners from Kuwaiti prisons, reports Al-Rai daily.
The protesters then went to the Kuwaiti embassy and met with the head of the consular section but the latter demanded to see an official letter from General Service Department for Overseas Egyptians so that the issue can be addressed to Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It has been reported some of these prisoners are serving time for drug-related cases including one who has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

Tweeters released: The security authorities are said to have released two tweeters — Menawar Al-Shimmari and journalist Mesha’al Al-Nami on KD 100 each bail and after holding them in detention for six hours at the Al-Firdous Police Station, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
They were arrested following a complaint filed by businessman Mahmoud Haidar accusing a number of tweeters of abusing and humiliating him.
The release followed a sit-in organized by several people including MPs Dr Waleed Al-Tabtabaei and Mohammad Hayef Al-Mutairi.

Man shot in butt: Police are looking for two unidentified persons who reportedly assaulted, shot at a Kuwaiti man and escaped in their car, reports Al-Rai daily. The incident happened in the vicinity of the Jahra Hospital.
According to reports the man was shot in the butt and he has been admitted to the hospital. The man has given police the plate numbers of the car.
