Release & Indemnity

I am an Indian working in Kuwait. My salary is KD 500. I was hired directly from India in 2006, and have been working with the same company (last 5.9 years). I have got a good offer from another company. I want to know if I have the right to ask for release from this company. If not what should I do? How much indemnity should I get after resigning?

Name withheld

Answer:
You are entitled to a release after 3 years of service if you have been hired from abroad. If the company does not give you the release you can approach the labor dept in your area.
Secondly, if you have worked over 5 years and resign, you are entitled to two-thirds of the indemnity.
