KUWAIT CITY, Sept 23: The court in Kuwait has reportedly shelved the case of a young couple who were caught red-handed having sex and the Public Prosecution had charged them with committing adultery, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. Case papers indicate the suspects are married in their own way and were caught having sex when the husband of the woman arrived home unannounced. When the paramour felt the presence of the woman’s husband, he hid in the cupboard but the couple’s young daughter pointed to the cupboard when he questioned his wife why she was naked with only a towel wrapped around her torso. When the husband opened the cupboard, he saw the lover hiding. He too was semi-naked and looked confused. The husband then closed the door from outside and called the police. The couple during interrogation admitted to having consensual sex. They also said they had sex on several occasions.

However, during a hearing the accused denied in court what had been attributed to them and defense Mohamed Ghali Al-Anzi defended his client and explained the circumstances of the case while refuting the evidences which had been submitted against his client. He argued that the provisions of law must be complied with even if his clients were caught red-handed. Moreover, he said the woman is still a teenager because she is not yet 21, the legal age according to law in Kuwait for a woman to be declared adult. He also told the court the wife is still willing to continue her marital life with the man she is married to. The court then decided to stop all the proceedings against the two accused in accordance with the law.

Citizen, Syrian held for drugs: A Kuwaiti man was arrested in possession of three hashish-rolled cigarettes in Farwaniya area. The man was driving at a late hour when police patrols stopped him for a regular inspection. The Kuwaiti was referred to authorities for further action. Meanwhile, police arrested a Syrian expatriate, believed to be in his 20s, for consuming drugs and recovered half gram of heroin from him. The man was found sleeping inside his vehicle in a parking lot along the Arabian Gulf Street. He was referred to the anti-drug department for further action.

12 bottles seized: Police arrested a Kuwaiti man in possession of 12 bottles of local brew. The man was driving his vehicle in Hawalli area when police patrols on routine duty asked him to pull over. The Kuwaiti panicked and tried to flee, forcing patrols to give him a chase. He was eventually arrested and referred to authorities.

Indian drunk held: Secu-ritymen arrested an Indian expatriate for consuming alcohol and also recovered five fake KD 10 bills from him in Maidan Hawalli area. Police had rushed to the place on receiving information about the presence of a drunk opposite a building in the area. The Indian was referred to authorities along with the fake bills.
