JID female staffer involved in visa scam goes into hiding

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 23: Police are looking for an unidentified female employee of the Jahra Immigration Department (JID) for allegedly issuing 32 residence permits in the name of her family and relatives, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. According to a security source, when the head of the department finally discovered the fraud, he found the transactions were registered in the computer system but there were no files for the visas that had been issued. Police investigations have revealed that she sold each visa for between KD 900 and KD 1,000. It has also been reported after the woman sensed that the fraud had been discovered, she stopped going for work and disappeared. Her name has been added to the travel ban and her description and personal details have been transmitted to all entry and exit points.

9 expats held: The Jahra police during a security campaign in the area, particularly in areas where the so-called bachelors live, are said to have arrested 9 expatriates for violating residence laws, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. Among those arrested five are Asians and four Arabs. They have been referred to the concerned authorities.

Policeman robbed: Pol-ice are looking for a thief for breaking into the Jeep of a Kuwaiti policeman which was parked in the basement of a building and stealing an envelope containing $1,000 and 900 euros, reports Alam Alyawm daily. The policeman was about to leave for Europe and had exchanged the money for his expense. A case has been registered at the Sabah Al-Salem Police Station. Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprits.

1m toman stolen: An Ira-nian couple has filed a complaint with the police accusing unidentified persons of stealing one million toman from his car, reports Al-Anba daily. In his complaint the man said he put the money in the car in Mangaf where he lives and went to visit his brother in Salmiya. However, he added he did not notice the theft until after he reached Salmiya. He does not know he says whether the money was stolen in Mangaf or Salmiya. Police are looking for the thief.
