KD 25m deal signed to improve and upgrade health sector services Canadian expert criticizes procedures in Kuwaiti hospitals KUWAIT CITY, Sept 22: Head of the Canadian medical team from McGill University in Canada and Assistant Director of the University Health Center Dr Cameron Larry has criticized the procedures in Kuwaiti hospitals, particularly the unsystematic scheduling of patients’ appointments, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Larry said the waiting period for patients is too long, in addition to the congestion in clinics, particularly in the morning. Even if he lauded the quality of health services in Kuwait, as well as the cooperation of his country and Kuwait on the health front, he asserted the central administration system in Kuwaiti hospitals serves as obstacles to efforts to develop the health sector. He pointed out most of the administrations are outside the hospitals, instead of being located in one place.
Stating the goal behind the signing of the KD25 million agreement by the Canadian university and the Chest Hospital in Kuwait is to improve and upgrade services in the health sector, Larry admitted he was surprised after finding out that Kuwait sends patients for treatment abroad. He affirmed there are highly-qualified medical experts in the country, in addition to the modern health facilities. He emphasized the need to build the trust of citizens in local hospitals and clinics.
