Municipality docks staff salary for ill-using ‘finger’ attendance

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 19: The Kuwait Municipality is said to have stopped paying the salaries of more than 200 employees because they have ‘failed’ to make use of the new attendance system (fingerprint) which has been installed by the Municipality, reports Al-Mustaqbal daily.

However, the employees claim they made use of the system. They say when they placed the finger in the slot provided for the purpose a green light flashed and they took it for granted that their attendance was recorded.
The Information System Department at the Kuwaiti Municipality confirmed what the employees say but unfortunately the machine looks faulty.

Al-Mustaqbal daily said there was a claim earlier that the machine is faulty because it is not compatible with the specifications mentioned in the contract of the supplier.
