Over 4,000 bottles seized as liquor peddling gang nabbed

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 18: Securitymen arrested a five-member gang for smuggling and trading in liquor with 4,248 bottles worth around KD 200,000 in their possession.

Acting on a tip-off, Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Evidence and Security Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major General Sheikh Ahmad Al-Khalifa Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah instructed a team of officers to put two of the suspects under surveillance.

According to a reliable source, the two suspects hid the bottles of liquor at an animal pen in Kabad, so the officers closely monitored their activities.  After ascertaining the duo is engaged in liquor smuggling and trading, the officers raided the animal pen, resulting in the arrest of the two suspects and confiscation of a large number of bottles of liquor.

During interrogation, the suspects admitted to selling and smuggling liquor from a neighboring country.  They guided police to their two accomplices, who confessed to the crime, disclosing they hid several bottles of liquor in Abdullah Port.  The two other suspects also revealed the identity of another accomplice, who was arrested at the Kuwait International Airport prior to his departure.

The officers confiscated a total of 4,248 bottles of liquor valued at about KD 200,000 from the suspects, who were referred to the concerned security department for the necessary legal action.
