Duaij Al-Otaibi and Abdallah Al-Rasheedi
Kuwaiti shooters shine Kuwaiti shooters who participated in the international Clay Shooting Championship held recently in Belgrade, Serbia, returned with one gold and two bronze medals. Skeet shooter Abdallah Al-Rasheedi bagged the bronze medal after acquiring 149 points out of 150, while junior trap shooter secured the gold medal and the double trap team of Fuhaid Al-Daihani, Mishfi Al-Mutairi and Hamad Al-Afasi won the bronze medal in the championship.
Head of the Kuwaiti delegation Duaij Khalaf Al-Otaibi lauded the shooters’ competitive spirit and praised them for making a mark in a championship in which 780 shooters from 77 countries had participated. Al-Otaibi, who is the President of Arab Shooting Federation, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Kuwait Shooting Federation and member of the ISSF Administrative Council, said the championship proved beyond doubt that we have champions we can rely on in the near future. He mentioned that a large team from the juniors sector had participated in the championship. “It was their first participation abroad and their performance has been remarkable,” he added.
Al-Otaibi dedicated the win to HH the Amir and HH the Crown Prince for their continued support to the sport and for urging the youth to win laurels for Kuwait. He also congratulated the Kuwaiti people on the win and hoped that the sports leaders will approve the club’s plan aimed at ensuring top places for our shooters during the 4th Asian Championship scheduled to be held in Kuwait next month.
Al-Otaibi thanked Board Chairman Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah and board members as well as the technical team for their tremendous efforts and the great support which helped in enhancing the shooters’ techniques. He also thanked the officials at the Public Authority for Youth and Sports and the Social Affairs and Labor ministry for their support.
