Indian man awaiting deportation dies from tuberculosis Police arrest 80 residence law violators from different areas

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 16: An Indian man who was awaiting deportation at the Interior Ministry’s Deportation Center is said to have died Thursday. He was suffering from tuberculosis, reports Al-Dar daily.
The case was discovered by the daily several days ago during routine interviews with the inmates.
Attorney Zahra Sultan said the Indian was suffering from severe pain and had complained of the illness about six months ago when his weight was 80 kilos.

She added every time he complained he was taken to the prison clinic and given Panadol tablets and syrup and the doctor told him he had no problem. She added at the time of the death the man weighed just 23 kilos. He had lost 47 kilos in six months during his sickness.

The lawyer wants to know who is responsible for the deteriorating state of health of the dead prisoner. She also wants to know who is responsible for the 90 inmates who have wives and children and shared the same ward with the prisoner who died of tuberculosis. She wants to know if these inmates have been medically checked.

She said it is surprising most of the inmates at the Deportation Center have valid residence permit but are awaiting deportation because of the stubbornness of their sponsors while others have been issued deportation orders but the decision has yet to be implemented.

80 law violators held: Upon instruction issued by the Director of the Hawalli Security Directorate Ghuloom Habib the Hawalli police set up checkpoints in Salmiya, Hawalli, Salwa, Rumaithiya and the surrounding areas with the help of the area police stations and arrested 80 residence law violators, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The daily added most of those arrested are illegal residents who failed to take advantage of the Amiri decree, which ended on June 30, 2011, and leave the country.
The arrested people belong to various nationalities and they have been referred to the concerned authorities for legal action.
A security source said the security directorates in all the six governorates plan a similar action to clean the country of illegal residents.

Indian Man DiesMohammed Faisal | 9/17/2011 1:20:26 PM There are many corrupt offciers in MOI. In jails also they are least botherd to treat the ill ones. Now let c those other inmates who were staying with him are not affected with this. Kuwait must reconsider the COPS who are being just recruited for no such genuine reason. They are not well mannered, only few i mean very very few are found descent and polite.
