70 liquor packets seized as police nab bootleggers gang
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 13: The Farwaniya police have arrested five Asians for bootlegging, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The daily quoting security sources said police acting on a tip-off got a search and arrest warrant from the Public Prosecution and raided the apartment of the suspects in a suburb of Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and caught the men red-handed.
Police are said to have seized from the bootleggers 70 polyethylene bags filled with the locally-manufactured booze.
The booze manufacturing equipment and the bootleggers have been referred to the authorities.
The daily added two of the five men have been staying in the country illegally.
Can’t beat law: Customs officers at the Salmi border post have arrested an Asian man for extending the validity of his residence permit in his passport, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. According to reports the man was living illegally in the country and in a vain attempt to leave without paying fines, he forged the document. He was caught by the immigration officers and referred to the authorities.
Iron thieves caught: The Jahra police have arrested five Asians for stealing iron from a building construction site in Sa’ad Al-Abdullah, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reports the suspects were arrested by a police patrol at a late evening hour. At the time of the arrest the men were riding in a pickup truck with the loot. They were allegedly on their way to Amghara to sell the iron rods. During interrogation one of the suspects said he decided to steal the iron rods belonging to his sponsor because the latter was refusing to allow him to transfer his residence permit to another sponsor.
