Bedoun ‘faith-healer’ making KD700 daily falls in police net

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 10: Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested a Bedoun, believed to be in his 20s, for duping people by claiming that he could cure them of illnesses and solve their problems by reading from the Holy Quran, reports Al-Anba daily.
The swindler reportedly made KD 700 a day using the ploy. Police laid a trap and arrested him while he was offering services to a police agent.

Liquor peddler arrested: Jahra securitymen arrested an Asian man for trafficking in alcohol and recovered 120 bottles of local booze from his car, reports Al-Anba daily.
Acting on a tip-off that the Asian was selling alcohol at a certain place in Sa’ad Al-Abdullah area, police rushed to the place, but the Asian tried to escape on noticing them. Police then chased and arrested him.

Wrath of furious relative: A Kuwaiti woman lodged a complaint at Sulaibiya Police Station, accusing her daughter’s former father-in-law of breaking into her home, assaulting her daughter and kidnapping her granddaughter, reports Al-Rai daily.
A police source said the daughter was divorced and was living in her mother’s house along with her own daughter. Her former father-in-law allegedly broke into the house and punched her before escaping with his granddaughter. The woman was rushed to hospital and her condition is said to be critical.
Police called the father-in-law who admitted to the act but refused to return his granddaughter to her maternal grandmother. A case has been registered

Pickup, parts stolen: Police are looking for thieves who stole a pickup wagon and left it in the open parking lot of a school in Taima after stealing its wheels and other parts, reports Al-Anba daily.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department lifted fingerprints from the vehicle to identify the culprits.

‘Gay’ fight on street: A fight broke out between a cross-dresser and a homosexual on the Arabian Gulf Street, opposite Salmiya on Thursday. Both of them blocked the road to settle their dispute. Acting on information, police rushed to the scene and referred them to Salmiya Police Station. The cause of their fight is not known.

Pirated CDs destroyed: About 25,000 CDs have been seized and destroyed at a dump area off the Seventh Ring Road, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting the Director of the Mubarak Al-Kabir Municipality branch Shuraida Al-Mutairi.
Al-Mutairi explained the emergency team of the Municipality had seized the CDs recently during a campaign against hawkers.
The hawkers were caught selling these pirated CDs in front of the main cooperative societies.
The official has stressed these campaigns are carried in the interest of both the citizens and the expatriates.
