Defaulters face telephone line cut after final Sept 18 warning ‘Inquire about status of bills by calling hotline 123’

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 7: The Ministry of Communications will soon resume the automatic disconnection of the telephone services of subscribers who fail to settle their bills on time, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting Public Relations Department Director Ahmad Ramadhan.

Ramadhan explained the ministry suspended the disconnection programme in August on the occasion of the holy month and Eid Al-Fitr. He advised the concerned subscribers to immediately pay their bills to avoid disconnection.

He said the ministry will send messages to these subscribers on Sept 11, reminding them to pay their bills and this will be followed by the final warning on Sept 18. He warned that failure to pay will lead to the disconnection of the service on Sept 25.

He explained the decision covers the residential telephone line subscribers with outstanding bills amounting to KD 50 or more and commercial line subscribers with unpaid bills of KD 100 or more.

He added the decision also applies to those who fail to pay their yearly subscriptions for six months or more, pointing out that this includes non-Kuwaiti residential and commercial line subscribers, Kuwaiti commercial line subscribers, and those who agreed to pay their accumulated bills in installments but failed to pay the monthly installment on time. He urged the subscribers to avoid service disconnection and log on to the ministry’s website www.moc.kw or the government’s official portal www.e.gov.kw to pay their bills.

He pointed out that subscribers can inquire about the status of their bills by calling hotline number 123.
