Afghan, two Asians caught for manufacturing, peddling liquor
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 5: Police have arrested an Afghan man for consuming and trading in locally-manufactured booze, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The daily added a police patrol on routine duty near the Sharq Cooperative Society saw drunkard lying on the ground outside the coop and called the paramedics.
Doctors at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital discovered he was high on alcohol and he had allegedly consumed two bottles of booze. It has been reported the man was carrying a bag and in the bag police found 20 bottles of booze.
Meanwhile, acting on information and armed with a search and arrest warrant issued by the Public Prosecution, police recently raided an apartment in Mangaf and arrested two Asians for manufacturing alcohol, reports Al-Qabas daily.
It has been reported a police patrol spotted a motorist speeding and forced him to pull over on an open ground and seized from his car 20 bottles of local brew.
He was taken to a police station in the area and during interrogation the man admitted to manufacturing booze in his apartment.
Armed with a search and arrest warrant police then raided the apartment and confiscated 230 bottles of booze ready for sale in addition to raw material and the alcohol manufacturing equipment. Police also arrested his partner who was in the apartment when the police party raided the place.
The contraband and the bootleggers have been referred to the authorities.
