‘Indecent’ query Kuwaitis and expatriates face Iraqi spy living as ‘bedoun’ falls into State Security net
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 4: The State Security personnel have arrested an unidentified Iraqi man, who was living in the country illegally and claimed to be a bedoun, reports Al-Anba daily.
He was allegedly spying for the Iraqi intelligence services. According to reports he was providing sensitive information about vital installations in Kuwait.
A security source said the arrest followed information that the spy, a.k.a. Abu Ahmad worked for a telecommunications company and was in contact with the Iraqi intelligence.
During initial interrogations it was revealed the alleged spy maintained good relations with people whom he met in Diwaniyas, chalets and cafes in Hawalli.
The source added the suspect is said to have admitted that he is a former military man and worked for Saddam Hussein’s army. He also told interrogators he infiltrated into Kuwait, and lived as a bedoun.
It has been reported the arrest came when he tried to lure a Kuwaiti to work for the Iraqi intelligence in return for a fat pay check, but the latter turned down the offer and informed security authorities.
‘Indecent’ query: Scores of people — men and women, Kuwaitis and expatriates — are said to have expressed their dismay at the queries contained in the Blood Bank form which they have to answer prior to donating blood, reports Al-Mustaqbal daily.
It has been reported that donors are particularly embarrassed when it comes to answering the query No 30 pertaining to anal sex.
The daily added the Ministry of Health should test the samples of donated blood instead of making the donors answer embarrassing questions.
