Big guns minting money, 70% items imported items counterfeit Cop manhandled

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 3: Nearly 70 percent of imported commodities are counterfeit, Al-Shahed daily quoted Chairman of the Kuwait Society for Consumer Protection Faisal Al-Sabei as saying.
Al-Sabei said counterfeit Chinese products fill local markets and traders earn annual profits amounting to half billion dollars. He also alleged that influential importers do not pay due Customs Fees.

Cop manhandled: A Kuwaiti youth was arrested for driving recklessly, trying to beat a police officer and damaging two vehicles, including a patrol vehicle.
The youth, who was driving a vehicle bearing a Gulf country’s number plate, sped up when patrol officers who noticed his reckless driving asked him to pull over in Salmiya area. Patrols chased him right up to Rawda where he tried to beat a police officer but was overpowered. Nothing incriminating was found on him or in his vehicle, but he apparently bolted out of fear that his car would be seized.
