Filipina nurse steals KD 2,000 from a dental clinic Asian duo acquitted in drug peddling
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 27: Police arrested a Filipina nurse for stealing KD 2,000 from a dental clinic where she was working, reports Al-Anba daily.
A police source said after the Kuwaiti dentist reported the theft at Hawalli Police Station, securitymen interrogated all the staff members at the clinic and it eventually led to the arrest of the nurse.
The nurse said she was passing through financial difficulties, so she broke open the door of the clinic and stole the money.
Police recovered the stolen money from the nurse’s possession.
Asian duo acquitted in drug peddling: The Criminal Court acquitted two Asians of trafficking in drugs.
Case files indicate the two Asians were arrested when a patrol officer found drugs in their possession. They were referred to Fintas Police Station for the necessary legal action but the investigation officer revealed it was difficult to analyze the drugs which fell on the ground.
Attorney Salwa Al-Tararwah, lawyer for the accused, demanded her clients’ acquittal, claiming the case was fabricated because the documents presented to the court do not contain any incriminating evidence. The court then ruled in favor of the accused and declared them not guilty.
Kuwaiti absolved: The Appeals Court uph-eld the ruling of a lower court and acquitted a Kuwaiti man of charges of kidnapping, robbing and beating a person.
The suspect was allegedly helped by two other men.
The Public Prosecution charged the accused based on the complaint of the victim. The suspect’s lawyer Faisal Al-Rasheedi said the statements of the complainant were contradictory and unrealistic and added that the investigations were not done properly. He said the claim of beating could not be proved because there was no sign of it whatsoever.
Foreigner gets clean chit: The Appeals Court acquitted a foreign national of charges of trafficking in cocaine and hashish.
Case papers indicate that investigation officers arrested the suspect inside his house in possession of cocaine and hashish. Subsequently, the Public Prosecution accused him of trafficking in drugs.
Lawyer Tahani Al-Zufairi told the court that the procedure of arresting her client and searching his house were illegal.
She stressed such behavior is against Kuwaiti law and demanded that her client be acquitted at once.
