192 beggars, hawkers arrested in Ramadan face deportation Municipality team destroys 800 expired milk products, issues 20 citations

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 26: Personnel from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor in cooperation with the Public Security Department of the Interior Ministry have arrested 192 beggars (men and women) and hawkers from various parts of the country during an inspection campaign in Ramadan, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
This was disclosed by the coordinator of the inspection team of the Labor Inspection Department of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, Jalal Al-Kout.

He explained most of those arrested include domestic and marginal workers and others who came to the country on visit visas and violators of residence law who don’t carry any identification documents.
He indicated the inspection campaigns included markets and commercial complexes in all governorates. He added the arrested people have been referred to the police stations to prepare their deportation from the country.

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor will also take legal action and close the files of companies that sponsored these workers into the country.

Meanwhile, personnel from the Ahmadi branch of Kuwait Municipality in continuation of surprise inspection campaigns on foodstuff stores in commercial markets within the governorate are said to have destroyed 800 expired milk products and issued 20 citations for putting for sale expired food products and not complying with health and hygiene regulations, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.

The campaign targeted the stores in Fahaheel, Mangaf, Mahboula and Abu Halifa which sell milk products and goat milk. These products are in demand during the month of Ramadan.
