Jailed Iranian woman attempts suicide

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 20:  An Iranian woman, who was arrested three days ago for her involvement in a drug case, tried to commit suicide at the General Criminal Investigations Department.

Security sources revealed the woman broke one of the windows at the department and used the broken glass to cut her wrists.  Sources said she also tried to attack an officer who prevented her from taking her own life.

Duo arrested

: Salwa securitymen arrested two Asians for trafficking in heroin and narcotic pills on behalf of an inmate at the Central Jail.

Acting on instructions of Hawally Criminal Investigations Department Manager Colonel Abdulrahman Al-Suhail, the officers sent an undercover agent to one of the suspects to purchase drugs.  When the agent arrived at the agreed meeting place, he saw two Asians and approached them to complete the bogus transaction.  This led to the arrest of the suspects with an undisclosed quantity of drugs.

During interrogations, the suspects admitted the crime and guided the officers to their apartment, resulting in the confiscation of a quarter kilo of heroin and 4,000 narcotic pills.  The suspects were referred to the concerned security department for the necessary legal action.

It has been reported the suspects were trading in drugs on behalf of a Central Jail prisoner whose share from the sales is transferred to his bank account in his home country.

8 hurt in feud

: Eight Syrians and Bedouns sustained multiple injuries after engaging in public brawl between two groups of around 20 persons, including teenagers and children.Securitymen and paramedics rushed to Al-Qasr after receiving information on a fistfight between two families — Syrians and Bedouns.  The officers pacified the feuding parties while the paramedics took the injured to a nearby hospital.  Other members of both families were referred to Al-Naeem Police Station for questioning.
