‘Interior’ tough on Article 17 passports More conditions imposed
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 19: The Ministry of Interior has specified stricter conditions on the issuance of Article 17 passports for Bedouns, reports Al-Anba daily quoting a reliable source.
The source said the new conditions came after the ministry noticed that a large number of passports issued to Bedouns have not been used. He revealed the new conditions stipulate the passports should be issued only to those who study or undergo treatment abroad. He explained Bedouns, who need to travel for medical treatment in other countries, must submit a medical report, copy of civil ID and endorsement from the concerned security department.
He added the passports issued for the purpose of performing Hajj will be valid for one year, while those for studying or medical treatment will be valid for one to three years.
