Mercado, Jacob lead Men’s Higher A Gonzales and Maria Fe beat rivals to top Ladies D Class KUWAIT CITY, Aug 18: Erwin Mercado and Mathew Jacob showed the way to all the other players by holding on to the top two spots of the senior-most category after the 2nd week of the Reggie Ramos Cup badminton tournament at the Kazma Handball Gym, Adailiya, recently.
While Mercado was first and Jacob second in their domination of Men’s Higher A, Donald Briones was leading Men’s Lower A Cluster I and Marianne Salunga was the best so far in Men’s Lower A Cluster II.
In Men’s Higher B, Marc Rivaca was at the top while Noel Zagada was leading Men’s Lower B, James Aguinaldo was the best in Men’s Higher C, Ryan Coronado was ahead of the pack in Men’s Lower C, Fay Guzman was dominating Mixed Higher C, Val Canicoso was in the lead in Mixed Lower C, Joey Maravillas was doing wonders in Mixed Higher D, Sherwin Perez found the going to his liking in Mixed Lower D, Jorneth Gonzales was topping Ladies Higher D and Maria Fe Bagasao was showing her class in Ladies Lower D.
Meanwhile, at the same venue, members of Alpha Phi Omaga Kuwait Alumni Association were also in action in the “Tammy Solaiman Cup”.
These events would not have been possible without the efforts of FILBACK Founding Chairman Caloy Abesamis along with FILBACK Director Leo Regner, FILBACK Tournament Director Renato Calanog, Alpha Phi Omega Kuwait Alumni Association (APO KAA-153) and all the office bearers who have been working very hard to consistently deliver non-stop competition for all their members.

In Men’s Higher A, Erwin Mercado and Mathew Jacob were top of the class as they both had played 10 games each and collected 466 and 412 points respectively while Windrow Bugas who had completed 8 games so far had acquired 353 points to place 3rd best.

The FILBACK Technical Committee has decided to split the Men’s Lower B category into two clusters.
In Cluster I, Donald Briones had completed all his 12 matches to comfortably sit on top with 524 points while Nato Calanog had finished 8 games and collected 359 points with Dennis Malay on 357 points so far in 7 matches.
In Cluster II, the only lady to have qualified to play in this class — Marianne Salunga – was in the driver seat after she finished 11 matches with 462 points while Denis Ferno was 2nd best with 366 points from 8 games and with the same number of matches played Junie Gratil was in 3rd place with 333 points.
