‘Allow expats who missed deadline to correct status’ Give until end of Ramadan: Immigration
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 14: The General Immigration Department has asked the Minister of Interior to allow expatriates who were unable to avail the Amiri amnesty amend their status legally before the end of Ramadan, provided they have clearance from the Immigration Department, reports Al-Moustaqbal daily.
Interior Ministry sources were quoted as saying many expatriates couldn’t complete the process due to problems with their sponsors.
This discussion, between various government organisations, has been going on for the last six weeks without any result.
There is also no decision on the fate of those illegals who were to leave the country on the last day of the amnesty but were unable to do so because flights were cancelled at the last moment due to a dust storm.
