Sick leave during Ramadan

Can you please let us know if an employee takes sick leave during Ramadan, then how much time “6 hours or 8 hours” will be counted per day on his time card, because the regular working hours in Ramadan are 6 per day?

Name withheld

Answer:
Please don’t try to complicate the issue. During the other months when you work 8 hours a day you lose the whole day when you are on sick leave. So during the month of Ramadan when you work 6 hours a day you should again lose a whole day.

It looks like you are keen on losing only 6 hours instead of 8 but if the company were to apply the same logic then you would end getting paid for 6 hours daily instead of the whole day.

The rule is very simple: during Ramadan the 8-hour working day becomes a 6-hour working day, so whichever way you want to calculate it — you forfeit a whole day.
